Art to Part Process
The following is an example of a student project that shows how an idea becomes a product. The project, making plastic
bowling pins by blow molding, exemplifies one way our state-of-the-art facilities are used to teach students career-related tasks.
- An AutoCAD drawing was developed.
- The data was transferred to Unigraphics via IGES.
- The mold cavities were milled with a Cincinnati Milacron Sabre 500 CNC milling machine.
- Finishing details were done on a Bridgeport milling machine.
- The mold was mounted on an extrusion blow molder for producing plastic bowling pins.
