Dr. Pranshoo Solanki is an Associate Professor at Illinois State University with over 10 years of academic and professional experience in the field of civil and geotechnical/pavement engineering. He received his doctorate in civil engineering (with specialization in geotechnical engineering) from the University of Oklahoma and master’s degree in civil engineering (rock mechanics) from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Dr. Solanki worked on a number of geotechnical engineering and transportation projects funded by highway agencies such as Illinois Transportation Center and Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Specifically, he has professional and research experience in dealing with difficult soils/rocks, beneficial use of recycled materials/industrial by-products in pavements, characterization of soils/pavement materials, mechanistic pavement design, pavement geotechnics, pavement instrumentation, nondestructive pavement evaluation, and numerical modeling of geo-materials. He has over 50 published articles and delivered approximately 30 research presentations in a number of national/international conferences. He has been recognized for his research work through awards at departmental and university level. He has over 5 years of experience in instructing courses in the area of geotechnical engineering/construction materials and supervising undergraduate/graduate students. He is a registered Professional Engineer (civil/geotechnical engineer) in the state of Michigan and an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Solanki is also serving on the cementitious stabilization committee (AFS 80) for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies which is a division of the United States National Research Council. He is also serving as technical reviewer for a number of prestigious civil engineering journals such as ASCE International Journal of Geomechanics and ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. Dr. Solanki continues to teach courses in the area of geotechnical engineering and construction materials at Illinois State University.
