Facilities and Equipment
The Construction Management faculty have extensive contacts with local, regional, and national builders, general contractors, and professional organizations. Construction Management courses take advantage of resources both on and off campus.
On-Campus Technology
Turner Hall houses all of the primary classrooms and laboratories for construction management classes. A dedicated laboratory is utilized for materials and methods, surveying, soils and foundations, and mechanical systems.
Computer intensive courses, such as estimating, scheduling, and project management, make use of the latest industry specific software on over 150 computer workstations maintained by the department. A small computer lab dedicated to Construction Management is located adjacent to Turner 120 and is available for individual or team projects.
Also connected to Turner Hall 120 is a 520-square-foot soils and concrete testing laboratory.
Tours and Site Visits
Students taking our entry-level methods course routinely visit union training facilities to observe demonstrations and participate in guided installation activities. Students in entry-level methods courses may also gain hands-on experience by working on Habitat for Humanity homes or other community projects.
Further, the dynamic economy of Central Illinois and the Chicago area provides ongoing opportunities for field trips, guest speakers, independent study, internships, and practical work experience.
